Pros of medical animal testing Cons of medical animal testing

Although majority of scientific discoveries and research are tested first on animals they also test on humans once it passes the testing on animals, along with that animals too are saved through the use of animal testing and many animal related illnesses have also been cured or are treatable. Some treatments discovered for animals include rabies, feline leukaemia and anthrax

Animals can and do sometimes suffer in the experimentation process no matter how rigorous the processes

Many treatments and cures may not have been made without the understanding of science we have gained through animal testing.  This would result in many more people dying of disease and other illnesses.

Sometimes there are better alternatives that can be used instead of using animals, which utilise technology and computers in particular.

Through the use of animal testing we have gained a better understanding of not only the human body and diseases associated with humans, but also animals and illness related to specific animals.

Many animals were sacrificed early on in these processes and were injured, maimed and or suffered greatly and human beings must live with this guilt.
The processes for using animals in medical research are now much more rigorous meaning that only essential research is carried out and the treatment of all animals is humane.

Animal testing is still used under medical guidelines for lifestyle choices rather than survival choices in fields such as Invitrofertilisation.
